Only if you follow safe handling steps — lightly dampen the material, take a small piece without sanding or breaking it, and double-bag it. If you're unsure, don't disturb it; book an inspection instead and we'll sample it for you.

I'm buying an old house — could it contain asbestos?
Very likely if it was built or renovated before the late 1980s — asbestos was used widely in Australian construction until then. Australia banned all forms of asbestos at the end of 2003, so assume anything older could contain it until testing confirms otherwise. Testing a suspect material before you commit is cheap insurance against an expensive surprise.
